The only niggle I have with this book was that I found it to be excessively violent in an unrealistic way, that’s not to say the violence was unrealistically written, but there was just so much that the likelihood of it seemed very remote.

I thought the plot though maybe not wholly ,ernick was good with a great twist at the end that I really should’ve seen coming but didn’t! Published September 19th by Minotaur Books first dje June 1st Love him or hate him, Milne isn 19t a protagonist that you 19ll feel ambivalent towards.

His assignment pulls him back to England, where he’s still a wanted man, looking for the killer of his ex partner.

I really like the way the setting was described, it went very well with the story. Kernick writes “See how this sells”.

I am exceptionally excited. I really enjoyed this second novel and novel it was. Although his friends at the King’s Cross station do not know that Milne is back in town, it soon becomes clear that his arrival has been expected by men who are after his blood.


However, Warren isn’t exactly the man he claims to smon.

From the beaches of the Philippines to the mean streets of London, a hunt for justice becomes a terrifying battle for survival. In addition to the Malik situation, there are several other related lines of inquiry to pursue. Denis still thinks he is doing society a service by eliminating the scum that seem to be untouchable by the law and on I think that many of the crime detective series get better with each book — we learn more and more about the characters and the lives they live and the emotional struggles they face in their chosen line of work.

It’s only after you’ve finished you realize that’s you’ve been supporting the wrong party all along. This was the follow up to The Business of Dying and I was already prepared for a rather rough ride, and that’s sure what we get in the second novel with ex policeman Dennis Milne, who is for a time known as Mick Kane and later PI Mick Kane, but then Dennis Milne again Simon has obviously perfected his art over the intervening period.

Milne isn’t really fond dxy killing but generally jernick rationalize his actions because of the deviant behavior of his targets—pedophiles, psychopaths and the like. Nonetheless, Dennis Milne is a complex and interesting character, an anti-hero who does wrong for the right reasons.
